What happens during colonoscopy preparation?

What are the typical instructions for colonoscopy prep before the actual procedure?

You will be on a clear liquid diet for 24 hours before the procedure. You will also be asked to drink a bowel cleansing fluid that will clean the bowel in order to be able to see the bowel lining during colonoscopy.

Clear liquids the day before the procedure then drink the preparation that your doctor gives you. Ususally half the night before and the other half the morning of the procedure.
