Q

How will ongoing stomach upset impact my Colonoscopy?

I have a regular colonoscopy scheduled next week, but just recently started to feel nauseous almost all the time. No other symptoms, just light stomach upset. No risk of pregnancy, no other known illnesses. Will the colonoscopy also shed light on this? Do I need to schedule a separate procedure to find out what this is? Do I need to cancel or postpone?

If you are nauseous, it is best advised to determine the cause of the nausea prior to doing a colonoscopy. Sometimes drinking the preparation and fasting can exacerbate the nausea. Let your healthcare provider know as in some instances it may be wise to check your stomach prior to your colon.

No, you should speak with your doctor about the nausea and discuss possible endoscopy.
