Q

How should I decide when to have a Colonoscopy?

I am 86 years old and I don’t remember when I had my last colonoscopy. Should I just get a new one without any symptoms or family history of cancer? Is it still recommended at my age?

I would suggest you speak with a GI doctor about a Cologuard test. If that is abnormal, then consider a Colonoscopy.

You should start having colonoscopies when you hit 45, or 10 years younger than the age of your first-degree relative who was diagnosed with colon cancer.
