How much prep is needed before a Colonoscopy?
I am concerned. I am with a different doctor than in the past. He is saying to take magnesium citrate after dinner 2 days before Colonoscopy. Then the routine Suprep for 1 day before the procedure. It seems like this is too much resulting in dehydration. In the past, I have always cleaned out just by taking the Suprep. Is the extra laxative overkill?

Usually you start a day before the procedure unless you have issues with constipation.
No, you will not become dehydrated. It’s possible based on your symptoms that your doctor wants to make sure you are cleaned out completely. Please discuss with your doctor.
