Ask a Healthcare Provider Your Colon Health Question Now

Can you get a colonoscopy if you have bowel obstruction?

I have had three attempts made to perform a colonoscopy. Each time the procedure failed and must be repeated because the doctor tells me I have a colon blockage. Could there perhaps be a colon growth or could something else be wrong?

It depends on the nature of the blockage – the doctor who performed the procedure should tell you what the next step is for evaluation (imaging, repeat endoscopy, etc).? There are a lot of factors that come into play with a colonoscopy that cannot be completed and certainly warrants further explanation by the provider.

There are a number of reasons that your doctor could not get past the “blockage.” You need to discuss with your doctor what?the next step is.
