Professional Bio

Dr. David C. Pound was recognized by the U.S. News & World Report as a “Top Doctor” in 2011. In 2009 and 2010, Indianapolis Monthly called him one of the “Top Doctors” in Gastroenterology, making Dr. Pound part of the top 5 percent of physicians in the city of Indianapolis. Dr. Pound now practices at Indianapolis Gastroenterology and Hepatology, where he has been seeing patients since 1993.

Dr. Pound’s medical education consists of undergraduate study at Indiana State University and medical school at Indiana University School of Medicine. By 1983, Dr. Pound had finished his internship, residency and fellowship work at the school’s medical center. Dr. Pound is now double-board-certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He specializes in hepatology and conducts extensive research on new types of hepatitis C treatment.

Within his professional community, Dr. Pound has served as a member of both the Credentialing Committee and the Regional Hospital Board of the St. Francis Hospital System. He has, additionally, served as President of the Indianapolis Gastroenterology Research Foundation. Dr. Pound has taught as Clinical Professor of Medicine and Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Medical Center of Indiana University.

In addition to his job, Dr. Pound dedicates himself to medical mission work. He is Chairman of the Fellowship of Associates for Medical Evangelism (FAME) and Medical Advisor and Director of Lifeline Christian Mission. He has led teams of doctors on medical missions to Haiti and actively supports “The ARK,” a group for patients who suffer from hepatitis C. Dr. Pound has a wife and 2 children.
