A board certified specialist, Dr. Rick Shacket is a Principal Investigator for proctology research studies and is also a Clinical Faculty member of the Phoenix Baptist Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Shacket has certification from the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians, the American Osteopathic Board of Proctology, and the American Board of Laser Surgery. He is also an American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery Fellow. Doctor Shacket served as a Clinical Assistant Professor, Division of Clinical Education at Midwestern University Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glendale, Arizona. While at Midwestern University, he taught medical school students on the treatment and diagnosis of genital, rectal, and colon disorders.
Born in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Rick Shacket earned his undergraduate degree from Hillsdale College in Michigan. He conducted postdoctoral training in homeopathic medicine at the Phoenix, Arizona based American Medical College of Homeopathy.
Dr. Shacket completed a proctology residency program affiliated with Phoenix General Hospital in Arizona. While within this residency program, Dr. Shacket underwent specialty training in anal rectal surgery, upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, and genital diseases. He earned his Medical Degree from the Western University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific, in Pomona, California. Dr. Shacket completed a medical internship at Hillside Hospital, in San Diego, California.
In addition to being the author of a medical textbook on hemorrhoid treatment, Dr. Shacket has written articles which appeared in newspapers and medical publications across the country. Because of his work in Phlebology, Dr. Shacket was profiled in the Phoenix Magazine Top Doctor issue of 2008. Dr. Shacket gives nationwide lectures that cover hemorrhoids and proctology. He lives in La Jolla, California and Phoenix, Arizona with his four children.
