Who is at elevated risk to develop colon cancer?

This question was asked in Anthony, Indiana on 05/22/2012.
Are some demographics at a greater risk to get colon cancer than others? Do certain lifestyle factors like diet go into play? My paternal grandfather was treated for colon cancer in his 60s. I am wondering how this could affect me. He drank and leads a more sedentary lifestyle which I feel could have been risk factors for the cancer.

Anyone with a family history has increased risk. Everyone should be screened at age 50. Earlier if you have an increased risk.
