What causes rectal bleeding?

This question was asked in Carrollton, Texas on 04/13/2012.
I have noticed some blood after every bowel movement, now it's more and more. I also noticed the stool is very thin, like the size of a pencil. I also loss about 15 pounds without trying. I spoke to my doctor, and she suggested a colonoscopy, but I don't have any insurance. Is there another way to find out the cause of the rectal bleeding?

The only way to figure this out is to have a colonoscopy, and you need one as soon as possible.

Rectal bleeding can be caused by several things. If you are seeing more blood you need to be seen by a gastroenterologist for evaluation. Colonoscopy is the "gold standard" or best way to see what is going on in the colon. Please see gastroenterologist soon.
