The prep before a colon is to make sure that the bowel is cleared of stool that would prevent the physician from seeing the bowel lining. Most of the preps flush the bowel in some way. Clear liquids is usually recommended the day before the procedure.

We use split dosing regimens where you drink part of the solution the night before and the morning of the procedure. There are many different preparations. They are well tolerated and the most important part of the procedure.
