What are the symptoms of a colorectal cancer?

This question was asked in Century City, California on 03/09/2012.
My grandparents died of colon cancer. I am in my late 30s and haven't had a colonoscopy or virtual colonoscopy. What are the normal symptoms of colon cancer? Sometimes I have to go to the bathroom multiple times a day. Could this be having an effect?

There are many symptoms of colon cancer or you could not have any at all. If you have a strong family history, you should have a colonoscopy when you are younger. I would talk to your primary doctor.

The main symptoms of colorectal cancer are rectal bleeding, changes in bowel habits, weight loss, or abdominal pain. However, sometimes you can be asymptomatic, which is why screening is recommended for high risk cases.
