Great question! The risk of developing colon cancer or colon polyps is known to be increased by eating diets high in fat and red meats. Also the risk is increased in people who smoke tobacco. These are fairly simple lifestyle changes that can improve your risk profile; however, even with lower risk, I would still recommend getting screening tests done as these lifestyle changes dont eliminate your chances.
