Should I see a gastroenterologist if I have constipation?

treatments or to over the counter meds. I am 73 years old and very active. I had pelvic surgery and radiation for cervical cancer in 1976. A routine colonoscopy 2 years ago was negative for any problems except for some radiation irritation. This is affecting my quality of life, ability to do my volunteer work, and travel. Should I see a gastroenterologist?

I would recommend seeing the same doctor who did your colonoscopy. I doubt you need another one, but should be evaluated.

I would speak with your Primary Doctor to see what he/she recommends. He/she may be able to give you something that may help.
