Should I get a colonoscopy if I have stomach pain?

This question was asked in China, Michigan on 02/09/2012.
I have had diarrhea and stomach pain for the past two months. I went to the ER and they did a CT Scan of my abdomen and pelvis. They said everything was ok. Only thing was I had a cist on my adrenal gland and my lower bowel was small in size. Should I have a colonoscopy to see why I’m having this diarrhea and stomach pain? Or what else it could be.

Your symptoms certainly warrant further evaluation by a physician; however, its too soon to say if you need a colonoscopy or not. You should make a consultative appointment with a gastroenterologist and discuss the symptoms with them to see if they feel you need a colonoscopy at that point for further explanation.

If you are continuing to have symptoms, you should most definitely see your doctor and find out if you need to see a gastroenterologist.
