Is an endoscopy the same as a colonoscopy?

Is a colonoscopy merely a type of endoscopy or are they completely different medical procedures?

Colonoscopy is indeed just another type of endoscopy. All of these procedures involve a camera attached to the end of a long flexible tube, which can be steered through the body. Endoscopy is a broad term that encompasses colonoscopy and upper endoscopy (called EGD).
