How often do you need to get a fecal occult blood test?

Do you need to get regular fecal occult blood tests? How do you know whether or not you'll need to get this test?

If you receive regular colonoscopic examinations you do not need to get this test. If you have deferred getting colonoscopy and have been receiving flexible sigmoidoscopy every 5 years for screening instead, then it is important to get this test done every year.
