I am considering getting my first colonoscopy. I have heard a lot about how dangerous colon polyps can be for your health. What exactly is a colon polyp?

Colon polyps are cells that excessively grow and can form nodules or lump on the colon lining. Polyps can become malignant over time although they are usually benign. These abnormal growths must be removed during colonoscopy because they can become malignant or cancerous.
