Do I need a colonoscopy if I have digestion problems?

This question was asked in Russellville, Arkansas on 05/01/2012.
I am 22 years old and am experiencing digestion problems that consist of heartburn, constant belching, gas (nasty sounding flatulence), noises from my gut and stomach and irregular bowel movements. My stools are usually yellowish in color and often incomplete. I am also experiencing a constant dizzy feeling. This has become a big source of anxiety for me. I find it hard to sit in class and dread social situations. Could this be caused by anxiety? If not, what can I do? Is this something I need a colonoscopy for?

You should have an evaluation by a gastroenterologist. If there are no alarm signs such as bleeding, weight loss or pain, than you may not need a colonoscopy.
