Do I need another colonoscopy if the colon polyps were benign?

This question was asked in Lady Lake, Florida on 05/14/2012.
I had a colonoscopy and a mass was found, it was biopsied and found to be benign. My doctor wants another colonoscopy and a CT scan of the pelvis and abdomen. I am wondering if this is necessary wince it was biopsied and found to be benign?

There are several reasons why additional testing may be desired. Depending on the type of polyp the follow up can be as early as 3 months. Please follow up as directed by you gastroenterologist.

If a mass was found, this needs to be investigated regardless of what the biopsies showed.
