Can you get a colonoscopy if you have bowel obstruction?

This question was asked in Boulevard, New York on 03/16/2012.
I have had three attempts made to perform a colonoscopy. Each time the procedure failed and must be repeated because the doctor tells me I have a colon blockage. Could there perhaps be a colon growth or could something else be wrong?

There are a number of reasons that your doctor could not get past the "blockage." You need to discuss with your doctor what?the next step is.

It depends on the nature of the blockage - the doctor who performed the procedure should tell you what the next step is for evaluation (imaging, repeat endoscopy, etc).? There are a lot of factors that come into play with a colonoscopy that cannot be completed and certainly warrants further explanation by the provider.
