Can stress cause colon pain?

This question was asked in Berkeley, California on 03/09/2012.
I have been overloaded at my work right now. And lately, I feel like I have been going to the bathroom more often than usual. There has been some blood in my stool and I also feel very uncomfortable when I sit. Could that be that my stress in work causes colon pain? I am in my late 20s and am in pretty good health otherwise.

Anytime someone sees blood in the stool, he should go see his physician to discuss it. Stress does not cause gastrointestinal bleeding.
