Are colonoscopy and sigmoidoscopy the same? How are they different if they both do the same thing? Do you need to get them at the same time?

A colonoscopy looks at a large section of the colon compared to a Flexible sigmoidoscopy. Generally a colonoscopy requires a more complete bowel preparation before the procedure. The gastroenterologist will determine which procedure will provide the best examination for the problems.
